The summer of 2008 had a lot of adventures in store for us on our Wednesday hang out days. We went to Seaside, GloGolf, Wild Waves, and many others. We had a great time just spending time together and having fun. If you were there, you know, and if you weren't there, we hope to see you around some time!!!
Back to School Bash!!
This years back to school bash was nothing short of awesome! Students came
out from all over town for our picture scavenger hunt. The students in our ministry did an awesome job of packing out our new
youth room. It was our first week of being in a new, much larger, youth room, and it was packed!
We started
off the night great with students just pouring in through the doors. Missy got some teams arranged, and we were still short
a couple of seats, so she was looking for another car when out of nowhere six more students showed up. Missy was determined
to find them cars to ride in and her staff was more than cooperative, a couple of the teams got a head start while Nikki stepped in
as a lifesaver to let us use her van! As soon as we were all packed into the van, and Joel had his team packed into Missy's little
car, we were all off on an adventure to find out how kids don't float, act out scenes from The Lion King, and just have a blast running
all over town.
When we all returned, Pastor Scott led us in a game of follow the leader, and the VERB Olympics started.
Missy broke out the new record book, and told the students that if they won the scavenger hunt, or a challenge that their picture
and their record would go into the book. We played some Atomic Fire Bunny and Sofie made it into the book, then we had a carmel
apple eating contest that got two students into the book. Lacey made it in because she got tricked into eating a carmel onion,
and Cody made it because he ate his whole apple before Lacey noticed that hers was an onion! We finished the Olympics off
with a balloon race that Ian won, only after a tie breaker with Mitchel!
The group then circled up to close in prayer
and the staff prayed for all of the students that had joined us, and then they headed into the youth house for some food while they
waited for their rides!
All in all, 38 students, not enough cars, a picture scavenger hunt, and VERB Olympics
turned out to be an excellent night, and a wonderful blessing!
